Overview

It started on August 15, 1992 and finished on June 15, 1993 with the winter break between November 22 and March 14. The Crimean Tavria were the defending champions, but managed only to place 10th that season. Dynamo Kyiv was finally able to earn the champions title on the second go in the exciting shoulder-to-shoulder season-long run against its main opponent Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. The Kievan club was declared victories by the goal difference as the both clubs finished equal on points, while Dnipro did have better head-to-head results. The teams met just three rounds before the end in Dnipropetrovsk where Dnipro was victorious by a minimum margin thanks to the goal of Yuriy Maksymov.

Anatoliy Puzach was replaced as the coach of Dynamo Kyiv following its disastrous rendezvous with Belgian Anderlecht yielding it 2-7 on an aggregate and losing at home 0-3.
